PROGRAM ASSISTANT

The RESPECT Program, Jakarta, is seeking a highly qualified and motivated
Indonesian as a Program Assistant.

RESPECT is a 5-year project led by World Learning in cooperation with one
international and two local consortium partners. The program is designed to
facilitate the ability of Indonesians to create and participate in an
inclusive public sphere (social and political), where everyone recognizes
and respects the place in society of all citizens irrespective of religion,
ethnicity, gender or other attributes. The goal of RESPECT is to provide
opportunities for Indonesians who may hold divergent views to define, create
and realize common values, process and institutions that work best for
Indonesia.
The program works on three levels -- community, district government, and
national government -- and on the interaction between communities and
government. RESPECT¢s three objectives are to:
1. increase respect for religious groups, women and minorities;
2. increase citizen participation and engagement with the government
on issues affecting diversity, tolerance and the rights of women and
minorities;
3. strengthen the legal system to support diversity, tolerance and
the rights of religious, ethnic or gender minorities.

The RESPECT Program Assistant will be working most closely with the RESPECT
Deputy Director/Civil Society and Governance Expert. The Program Assistant
will focus largely but not entirely on objectives 2 and 3 above.

Key Qualifications:

1. Three or more years experience working on civil society
development, preferably governance and/or rights-related issues;
2. Strong familiarity with Indonesian social and political affairs;
3. Willingness and ability to engage with sensitive subjects such as
religious pluralism;
4. Flexibility and willingness to engage with the project at
different levels, depending on needs;
5. Ability to work both as part of a team and individually without
supervision when required;
6. Good analytical skills;
7. Ability to write well in English and Bahasa Indonesia
8. Computer skills (Word, Excel).

Responsibilities:

1. Support the Deputy Director and Director in daily activities;
2. Assist Deputy Director and Director to formulate scope of work,
terms of reference and other requirements for partners and stakeholders
engaging in RESPECT;
3. Follow-up with partners and stakeholders to ensure compliance
with SoW, ToR, Contract;
4. Assist in programmatic administration including creating
documents, making phone calls, writing reports, and more;
5. Take notes at formal programmatic meetings;
6. Cooperate with office administrative staff on programmatic
logistics as needed;
7. Assist in preparing drafts of programmatic reports (3 quarterly
reports and 1 annual report);
8. Other assignments as requested by the Deputy Director or
Director.
Engagement:

1. Start Date: immediate
2. Location: Jakarta/Kebayoran Baru
3. Duration: One-year contract renewable, pending performance
evaluation
