ARC-Public Health Field Officer (Pulau Nasi)

The Australian Red Cross are inviting dynamic, qualified and high self motivated personnel to join our great team for the following position:

· Public Health Field Officer – Pulau Nasi (Code: PHPN – May 08)

Essential Skills & Experienced required

Commitment to and understanding of the Red Cross Principles
Previous experience working in a health or community development related role
Strong written and verbal skills in Bahasa Indonesia and Acehnese. Knowledge in English is an advantage.
Commitment on improving the health outcomes of vulnerable communities and a strong understanding of the needs of vulnerable communities
Ability to maintain productive relationships with stakeholders such as government, non-government organizations, PMI and beneficiaries
Experience in delivering training, education or information sessions and activities
7. Willingness and ability to travel and work flexible hours as required in remote areas with minimum facilities.
8. Comfortable in working alone as well as in a team with minimum supervision.

Key tasks of the position are:
1. Deliver training and education programs and coordinate the delivery of programs by partner organizations, including PMI.
2. With support of Public Health Coordinator evaluate the impact and effectiveness of training and education programs.
3. Work collaboratively with target communities to develop appropriate and effective strategies for sharing health information
4. Work collaboratively with the ARC tsunami response community development team and PMI to ensure long term strategies for meeting health needs of communities relocated to permanent housing are met
5. Maintain effective relationships with communities, Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI), International Federation of Red Red Cross (IFRC) and other Participating National Societies (PNS), Liaise with other government and non-government organizations and collaborate with them where appropriate
6. Perform the duties of interpreter as required.

Desirable
1. Experience in the development of community based health programs.
2. Skills in the design and development of health promotion and education materials.
3. Knowledge of the areas in Pulau Nasi.
